Let’s start today’s post off with the latest in my long line of confessions…
I am not organized.
There I said it. My family and friends have known it for years. Have hinted at it. Okay, to be honest my family and friends have come right out and told me I’m organizationally challenged.
So what to do about it?
Here’s two tips for you today while I’m on the road to a better organized life:
First one for us Moms out there. Shoe bags. Yup, you know the one the shoe pocket organizers that go over your door? My best friend, Marie, gave me this tip. Hang one of those organizer bags over the back of closet door (I choose the door to my basement, cause it’s the most convenient) and use the pockets for the little stuff you need all the time. I’ve got school supplies (use pockets for pens, pencils, glue sticks, paperclips, index cards, erasers, etc…) The pockets are the perfect size for spare batteries, nail polish, extra shoelaces, curling ribbon for wrapping packages, tape, birthday cards you’ve bought in bulk…I could go on and on (but I won’t!) Have fun with this one – it’s a gem! Oh, and my daughter has one of these bags over the front of her closet door with barbie dolls in each pocket – wow – how organized is that?
Second one for us writer’s out there. yWriter. Free writing software that organizes your thoughts, chapters, and scenes. I just downloaded this (and it’s FREE) and have spent the morning fiddling around with it. Love it!

I love YWriter too!
I’m probably as much disorganized as you, LOL..so thanks for the tip.
One thing I learned from FlyLady was you can do anything for 15 minutes. Sometimes I may only get the dishes, dinner and a load of laundry. But, I did it!
I’ve got to do something about my office and all these books…they are taking over and I’m running out of space to write, LOL.

I’m going to check out that YWriter. I have tons of paper notes and stuff all over the place, and then half the time I forget to look at it and I wish I had. Wah.

Oh, I have that little program, along with the others he offers. One is to keep tracks of submissions, which is awesome, another to keep track of your books, which is totally helpful, and the one that’s like a timer, which helps me when I want to have one of those sections in which I can write only for a certain amount of time or want to beat the clock thingy. Hehehe! I love those programs. And they are FREE!!!! Although I’ve had yWriter for a couple of years now, I’ve not been able to use it yet. I guess it’s because my writing style doesn’t lend to it. But I recommend it to anyone though.

Oohhh. It sounds wonderful! I definitely need some organization. I like the shoe pocket idea especially for kids. My son has tons of little guys with special attachments…
